Pap Smear

The Pap smear test is a procedure used to detect cervical cancer and other diseases: In a Pap test, cells are removed from the cervix and surrounding area using a small brush or spatula and then examined under a microscope. The Pap test detects cervical cancer, precancerous lesions, and the human papillomavirus, a common sexually transmitted infection that increases the risk of cervical cancer.
